The "Fair" race has been an event that is been luke warm when it comes to turn out and riders getting after it.  Over the years being that it's the last weekend mainly before kids go back to school and the start of a holiday weekend many outside attractions keep it a basic mediocre event.  NOT this year! The boys added a few loads of sand as well to help make the track "wear in" better!

A classes seeing the next level with 10 or more in the classes (which automatically increases purse, and of course competition). Then with the Women's class rule that was passed out of committee and then in an emergency meeting was rescended.  The stage was set for some big things to happen. Plain and simple, 451 Photography or AMAnda Ward put her plan together to make sure all the ladies she knew had all the information and tools to make it known that local racing won't like it.  It was a resounding call as their voices were heard loud and clear!

On August 12th the AMA Motocross committee passed a rule stating that in 2027, no Women would be able to race a supermini in the Women’s class. If a women wanted to race, they would have to race a 125cc or bigger. Some might think that is great for ones racing the “big national” tracks or if they have been riding since they were 4 years old. But that is not what this sport is only about. The local tracks matter. The ones that have just started out when they turn 18,19,20 years old and decided “hey this is fun”. Majority of women are only 5’3-5’5. We can’t always touch the ground on a big bike, let alone handle the power of that bike, especially for us ones that are just starting out. I myself just started riding 2-3 years ago and am on my first year of racing, on a Kawasaki 112cc which is the perfect bike for me, I couldn’t imagine just starting out and hopping right on a 125cc or 250cc.

Last Megacross on August 30th there were 19 Women that lined up on that starting line! And almost half were minis! Amanda Ward (451) got on Facebook and asked for Women to come out and line up with us to prove a point to AMA. Now AMA Motocross committee has a special meeting and decided that this rule had unintended affect on our class and it was revoted on and was stopped this rule will not be implemented!! Women will still be able to ride superminis in the Women’s class thanks to all the ones who shared their opinions with AMA and showed up! Great JOB!

Onto the racing for the night… being on the line with 18 other girls for the first time is quite nerve racking! The line was filled with ones who have been coming out all season, ones where its their first race such as Lucy Brewer (586), and ones that haven’t been around in awhile like Melanie Spizzirri (24). The Women Advanced class had 9 while the Intermediate class had 10 Women in it! First moto started out with a couple crashes in the first two corners but everybody got back up and kept going! Second moto, right off the start going into that first corner, Sienna Hastings (179) and Harper Hastings (279) went down together but got back out there and made some passes! Sienna made her way up to 4th while Harper made her way up to 6th! Out in the front, Abygail Buettner (515) was leading the way as Rylee Woods (610) stuck behind her in 2nd place, while woods rider, Morgan McDonald (23) came out with a third in the Advanced class!

It was the Kyle White show (19) on his Riverside Beta again this evening.  Taking 3 main wins in Open A, 25+A, and 30+ A.  So this has been happening all summer long. Kyle has been dominate.  The players have changed a bit and will a bunch at our next race which is a Pro AM with points so he will be challenged with that for sure.  Normally (31)Garrett Ward would run 2nd but this night a kid that has grown up at both Megacross and Megatraxs has matured and entered the A class, Talon Zollers put his Rock RIver (99) Yamaha in the 2nd spot in the A classes this night with high reving over jumping and pure speed couldn't get past White but put Ward in the rear view mirrors! RJ is Back!  (14) RJ Mackenzie returned to the line this year and kept Ward and the rest in the 250A class honest pulling a solid 3rd. Parker Smith and Jason Crawford (8) coming over from the woods world did a solid 5th!

250B class was lit up by the Johnson Brothers. Racing the series for a very long time the brothers have a long history at this track. (7) Zach being a bit older has had the upper hand on brother Wes (26), but the gap is shrinking.  Many think its time for Zach to venture into the A world and well he would do great! Wes had a bad day earlier in the month with a shoulder injury but rebounded back strong tonight. Ian Murphy (435) who as well been a regular the local tracks kept both the Johnson bros in sight and pushed to the finish of the main!

Honorable mentions, Trey Lee 250C, Landon Brandt 250c2, Ross Modesitt 40b/c, Nate Hornung 30B/c, Bracken Massie 14*24, wolfegirls, and  The Moore brothers in the 65cc classes, all putting in excellent rides and showing what a season of racing and riding can do to improve the skills needed!

Next Up Ch4se Challenge Pro AM here at Megacross.  Always a great time and even better when we find out if Chase can make it.  2 races left as the schedule was a little goofy with a late date change moving the final event to Oct. 11th.  But safe to say as the weather gets a little cooler it won't keep the heat out of the racing at Megacross.  See you all at the pro am!
